Message From the Principal
SLS
I am so proud to be principal at South Lawrence School. It is truly a great school! I have been in public education for over 25 years. I have been a classroom teacher at SLS, a middle school reading interventionist at EOC, an assistant principal at DCES and the Chief Human Resources Director for Lawrence County Schools prior to being principal at SLS. I completed an Associate’s degree from CSCC, a Bachelor’s degree from MTSU, a Master’s degree from TSU, a +30 from Cumberland University, and an Educational Specialist degree from MTSU. I’m truly honored to be back at home among SLS students, parents, faculty and staff in the community where I started my career.
In addition to my role as principal, I am a wife and mother. I am married to Duke Snider, and we have two children together, Branton and Brinlyn. I also have a stepdaughter, Brianna. Branton and Brinlyn attend LHS.
Our goal at SLS is to offer whatever support possible to enable each child to experience maximum social, emotional, physical, and academic growth throughout the school year. Through the collective energies of faculty, staff, parents, and our extended South Lawrence family, each of our students will attain maximum growth in all areas relative to our students becoming responsible, independent individuals.
I want school to be a very productive experience for our students, parents, faculty and staff at SLS where we can all learn and grow together. I hope we can try not to judge each day by the harvest we reap but by the seeds we plant. I enjoy working with parents in providing the best possible educational program for your child. We hope that you’ll attend special events, conferences and parent nights. We know that the key to your child’s success involves all of us working together as a team and that parent support is a crucial part of that team effort. We want our students to experience engaging and enjoyable learning opportunities. We feel our community has so much to offer these students, and we want to make sure that we utilize all of these opportunities.
If you need assistance in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone, email or schedule an appointment. I am here to serve you and help ensure that each child at SLS receives the best education possible in a safe, positive, and caring environment - an environment that is free of worry but full of high expectations.
Go Stallions!
Mrs. Shannon Snider
